Nominated for the 4th M. R. Pai Memorial Award
in 2007 for the ‘splendid work done by you and your organization
in educating the public on competition and regulation over the
years. You are one of the foremost crusaders for consumers and we

The award, which carries a citation and a cheque of Rs.51,000,
will be given at Mumbai on Tuesday 8th April, 2008 at the hands of
Ms Shyamala Gopinath, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India.
Spoke at the IFC luncheon on the evolution of competition scenario
– from the MRTPA to the Competition Amendment Act, 2007 – in
India, covering the phases of trials and tribulations, the
pressing needs and the interventions, along with some valuable
recommendations for a better regulatory regime in the country.
As the Luncheon Speaker at the Australia
India Business Council (AIBC) 2nd India Conference 2007, Melbourne,
Australia, on May 10, 2007, presented a paper on 'India
is flat-A few thoughts'.
Invited to be a member of the "Warwick
Commission into the Future of the Global Trade Regime”, hosted
at the Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation
at the University of Warwick, UK, presented a Note on 'Threats/Obstacles
and Possible Solutions' in the first meeting of the body. Click

by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Geneva Office and
CUTS International, India.
Invited to speak at the session on “Stocktaking of WTO

by SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry on 26 September
on the sidelines of WTO Public Forum, at

of Competition Law in India' under the Academic Lecture on "Evolution of Competition Law
with respect to India" jointly organised by CUTS Institute
for Regulation & Competition (CIRC) in collaboration
with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI),
Kolkata. .

'Civil Society's Voice and Access to Justice'
at the Plenary titled Evolving Effective Regulatory Mechanism".
Also, participated in the Debate titled "In
a Developing Economy like India, Sustainable Development is
pipe-dream meant for Lip-Service only"

"International Conference: Striking the Right Balance-Law and Sustainable Development in India's
Energy Economy, organised jointly by Confederation of Indian
Industry (CII)-Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) in New
Delhi.
Contributed an Introductory Chapter with
Prof Simon Evenett (Professor of International Trade and
Economic Development at University of St Gallen, Switzerland)
to the report titled
“Competition Regimes in the World-A Civil Society Report”,
which is an attempt to map out competition regimes of 119
countries around the world from the civil society perspective.
